The Precision Match Timer is how this all started. In 2019 I was looking for some kind of watch app that would alert me to how much time was left in a stage. All I wanted was a vibration when 20 or 30 seconds was left. I could not find it anywhere. So, I designed an app myself.

I thought about the way to start it. Initially it was a button, but then I thought about the accelerometer inside. What if a shake of the wrist could start it? After all, my hands were usually filled with a rifle, bag, tripod, etc. And that became the basis for the app.

It worked great to start with vibrations. But one day I was out for a jog and using a jogging app. The watch announced "One mile. Seven Minutes and six seconds." (ok, maybe an exaggeration). But a lightbulb went off and I knew I had to do that for the app.

So now, a voice tells you the alert times you set. "Twenty Seconds." But even better is the option for a 10-second countdown.

People often think the watch is used to speed you up, but I use it to slow me down. If her soothing voice is telling me I have "8-7-6..." seconds left, I don't panic and make a bad shot. I take an extra breath and make sure my last shot it good.

Now, if using it for rimfire, just listening to it without earpro is the most common. But with Centerfire it is tougher to do. I use earpro that is bluetooth compatible. Then those alerts are whispered into my ear as clear as can be. If you don't want to change earpro, another thing to use is Bone Conducting ear buds which don't go in the ear, but can be easily heard. Just trying to hear it with ear plugs in (even electric ones) is a risk.

Currently, the App is only available for the Apple Watch. And yes, you either need an Apple iPhone or someone in your immediate family (who you trust with your Apple ID not to buy anything else) needs to have one. Once installed, you do not need the iPhone with you.

I also highly suggest a watch band that will wrap around the face and protect the face and the large button on the side. Some people have mentioned accidentally hitting that button by bending their wrist to shoot a stage and turng it off. I have never done that. The band in the photo is from Amazon for $10-15.

I am once again exploring bringing it to Android Watches. In the past it has been very expensive, but we will try again.

Patent investigation is underway.
